17 Nov 2010Some helpful advice to those at the Center for the Advancement of a Steady State Economy (Casse) who have just published a report called Enough is Enough: Ideas for a Sustainable Economy in a World of Finite Resources. Why go to all the effort of organising a conference in Leeds and publishing a 132 page report when more-or-less everything it says has been said many times before? Why not make better use of your scarce resources by simply recycling, or even better reusing, earlier reports?
Perhaps you could do something really useful with all your creative talents like making goods or providing services that people actually want? Maybe you could go even further and make a breakthrough scientific discovery or produce a great work of art? At a minimum you could get on with your favourite pursuits, like switching off lights and recycling waste into ever narrower categories, rather than constantly complaining about the behaviour of your fellow human beings.
