Against austerity

There is a desperate need for a real debate on Britain’s economic future rather than the “engagement exercise” favoured by the government.

The purpose of the ruling coalition’s exercise it to draw the public into a discussion of exactly when and where cuts should be made. There is no option for those who reject the call for austerity.

If the Liberal and Conservative parties wanted a genuine debate on the economy they could have had one during the recent election. Instead, like Labour, they shied away from spelling out exactly what austerity would mean let alone exploring any alternatives.

A key focus of my campaign around Ferraris For All will be to argue against the drive to austerity. Instead of working out how to squeeze consumption the discussion should focus on how best to boost production.
